Appreciate the Flake!

Happy Hump Day Amaretto Community!

On December 18th, around the time of the year when the snow starts falling in much of the Northern Hemisphere, snowflakes are celebrated with Flake Appreciation Day. There are different sizes and shapes of snowflakes, and none are exactly alike, although they do fit into one of 35 different shape categories.

Snowflakes form when water vapor condenses into ice crystals in the clouds. They accumulate around particles of dust or dirt, which affects their shape, as do factors such as temperature, humidity, and currents. Snowflakes have different numbers of water molecules, and it is these molecules that cause them to form a crystal pattern. A six-sided crystal snowflake is most common, but flat or thin needle-shaped flakes also form. Snowflakes also have different amounts of oxygen and hydrogen, which also affects their shape. Although they are made of clear ice, they appear white because of the reflection of light called diffuse reflection.

Amaretto helps you celebrate Flake Appreciation Day with seven snowflake traits!

It all started with the Penguin Paradise Fell Pony in 2012. This Limited Edition had the ability to pass it’s Winter Snowflake eye.

And, from there the traits have grown! Next, came the Winter Snowflake Hoof which was hidden in the 2012 Holiday Horses. The 2014 Holiday Horses followed with a Winter Snowflake Sock.

In 2015, the Holiday Horses gave us double the Snowflakes! Hidden inside these Limited Editions were the Snowflake Ear Tip and Snowflake Saddle.

The 2017 Mr. and Mrs. Amaretto Christmas Horses brought another two Snowflake traits, with the Winter Snowflake Wing and Winter Snowflake Branding hidden inside.

There is still time to breed for the December Craved Snowflake!

That’s right, the Craved coats for December are Snowflakes! Just take a peek at these beauties!

Remember these coats CAN pass! Here is a list of what you need to try your luck at one of these awesome breedables: Hurry, though, you only have until December 31st!

Until next time…HAPPY BREEDING!

6.03 Horse Update SL Fix!

Hello everyone! Hope that everyone is having a great Monday! We here at Amaretto have been hard at work. I know that some peoples horses have not been dropping bundles like they should, this has been very frustrating to us and you.

We have been working hard to be able to assist you in filing tickets and getting the bundle that you should have, but we know that is not enough so for some days the Amaretto Beta Testers have been testing a fix for this issue.

We feel like it is now time to roll out this fix grid wide. If you are wondering why this is happening I would suggest that you take some time to read the lindens blog here:

This is the issue that has been causing havoc with our horses.

So here we are releasing this mandatory update in which we hope will solve this issue for everyone!

Welcome 6.03!
Update v6.03 Fixes:

  2. Fixed bundles not birthing completely leaving little white horses
  3. Fixed texts turning off when mother drops a bundle

Remember guys this update is only technical meaning there are no new traits, or surprises, this is to fix the breeding issue that many of you have been having.

Q: What do you mean by “not function properly”?
A: ALL versions that are not v6.03 will no longer produce viable offspring. Meaning any bundle produced by all versions that are not v6.03 will have the text BAD_DATA_NO_PARENTS, or EXPIRED_BREEDING, will not birth and cannot be fixed.

If you have any problems while updating, please file a ticket and we will be here to help in every way we can! Go get your updater and update your horses! I am excited that this will be available to everyone! Happy updating everyone!

Hue Traits In Horses

Hello to all my fellow Amaretto Breeders!
I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Today it’s my turn to post a connection, and I would like to take a moment to talk about Hues in the horses.

Wiki Link Here

These hue traits can be put on the hair and the coat of any horse and give a unique look to it and it is worth experimenting to see what you can come up with, whether it is mixing the coat chill with a blue coat and making a super blue horse or mixing the coat hue teal with a red coat to make a super deep dark green horse… the possibilities are endless, so try them out!

That’s all from me. So check the hues out, mix them up, get creative and enjoy the results of what you come up with.

Happy Breeding, Hugs Marku.

My Little Ponies!

Shetland ponies originated in the Shetland Isles, located northeast of mainland Scotland. Small horses have been kept on the Shetland Isles since the Bronze Age. People who lived on the islands probably later crossed the native stock with ponies imported by Norse settlers. Shetland ponies also were probably influenced by the Celtic pony, brought to the islands by settlers between 2000 and 1000 BCE. The harsh climate and scarce food developed the ponies into extremely hardy animals that are the strongest for their size of any of the horse breeds.

Shetland ponies were first used for pulling carts, carrying peat, coal and other items, and plowing farm land. Then, as the Industrial Revolution increased the need for coal in the mid-19th century, thousands of Shetland ponies travelled to mainland Britain to be pit ponies, working underground hauling coal, often for their entire (often short) lives. Coal mines in the eastern United States also imported some of these animals. The last pony mine in the United States closed in 1971.

Shetland ponies are generally gentle, good-tempered, and very intelligent by nature. They make good children’s ponies, and are sometimes noted for having a “brave” character. They can be very opinionated or “cheeky”, and can be impatient, snappy, and sometimes become uncooperative. Due in part to their intelligence and size, they are easily spoiled and can be very headstrong if not well-trained.

In April of 2011, Amaretto brought out Tobiano Shetland ponies, a two color pony with a base coat of white, that could be gotten from breeding any new starter coats.

In October 2011 came the Classic shetlands with solid color coats.

In June 27, 2014 Amaretto was pleased to present another Graduating class of Amaretto Ranch University (ARU) with special horses as graduation gifts, the Graduation Shetland Red and Black. The coats couldn’t pass but The A.R.U. Tobiano Shetland Strength and The A.R.U. Tobiano Shetland Honor came from the breeding of any 2014 A.R.U. Graduation Shetland Red or 2014 A.R.U. Graduation Shetland Black. Those shetlands COULD pass their coats.

When the version 5.0 Horse update came out on September 3, 2014 Amaretto introduced Spotted Shetlands. These little cuties look like they have measles!

Although the tobiano shetlands and classic shetlands are out to pasture, they can still be bred from existing lines, which is fantastic because they are all so darn cute!

21st AMOC BunKenNestKet Hunt Recap and Winners

Happy Hump Day Amaretto Community!

This past weekend AMOC held it’s 21st BunKenNestKet Hunt. From Friday, December 6th at 2PM (SLT) until Sunday, December 8th at 10AM (SLT), hunters traversed through 20 sims across the SL grid. Following clues, they sought out little penguins filled with bundles, kennels, nests, and baskets, along with a few special prims that could be exchanged for an awesome Amaretto Consumable prize pack. Almost 2300 breedables were distributed during the 44-hour hunt. 🐧

The winners of the Amaretto prizes were:
Horse: Skylar Ivory Hope Stevens (skylar.barnside)
K9: ღ RσѕαƖιє Melendezღ (rosalie.corith)
Bird: Ɲєутιяι (minu73)
Ponie: Crystal Dawn (crystaldarlene)

Congratulations Winners!

We want to extend a special thank you to those who hosted a hunt location and to those who generously made the donations we used to make this hunt possible.

In our closing notice, hunters were asked to fill out a brief survey to help us improve on future hunts. We are delighted to report that positive feedback was unanimous from everyone surveyed. As one hunter reported, “I loved everything about the hunt! It is always interesting to see all of the different sims that I have never been to before!” Hosting DOES bring new traffic to your sims and market areas. Additionally, seventeen percent (17%) of those surveyed were first time hunters!

With that being said, we are already planning the next hunt! That’s right! So, get ready for the 22nd AMOC BunKenNestKet Hunt when we’ll be hopping down the bunny trail to hide Easter-themed prims across Second Life.

The hunt will begin on Friday, April 10th at 2PM (SLT) and end on Sunday, April 12th at 10AM (SLT).

If you would like to be a host sim or parcel in this hunt, get hoppin! 🐇 Applications will be limited to 20 Sims! Find info and registration form here:

AND, don’t forget….keep donating those unused bundles, kennels, nests, and baskets. Your thoughtful giving is the only way to keep these hunts on-going. Find donation locations here:
