The Percheron is a breed of draft horse that originated in the Huisne river valley in western France, part of the former Perche province from which the breed takes its name. Usually gray or black in color, Percherons are well muscled, and known for their intelligence and willingness to work. They were originally bred for use as war horses. Over time, they began to be used for pulling stagecoaches and later for agriculture and hauling heavy goods. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Arabian blood was added to the breed. Exports of Percherons from France to the United States and other countries rose in the late 19th century, and the first purely Percheron stud book was created in France in 1883. In the American traveling circuses of the late 19th century and early 20th century, the Percheron was the most frequently seen draft horse. The Percheron is still used extensively for draft work and, like other draft breeds, it is also used in France for meat production.
Percherons in the United States generally stand between 16.2 and 17.3 hands (66 and 71 inches), average 1,900 pounds, and their top weight is around 2,600 pounds . They are generally gray or black in coloring, although the American registry also allows the registration of roan, bay and chestnut horses.

When the version 4.0 Horse update came out on September 9, 2013 these exciting new coats were hidden in new starters. The Apricot Dapple Percheron, Black Dapple Percheron, Brown Dapple Percheron, Brown and Grey Dapple Percheron, Dark Brown Dapple Percheron and Silver Dapple Percheron are one set of many exciting possible Non-Starter coats that can come from breeding “Starter Horses”.

Amaretto also used the Percheron horses to make a Twist, the Dapple Saddlebred. From November 5, 2014 until December 5, 2014 you could breed any color Amaretto Saddlebred and any color Percheron together for the chance at one of the Dapple Saddlebred Coats. From April 5, 2016 until May 4, 2016 you could breed any color Percheron horses together for the chance of getting one of the Crazed Percheron. No other qualifications necessary, just has to be 2 Percherons. The coat and eye CAN pass. You can see these great looking colorful coats on the wiki here

And of course there is the Albino Percheron, which comes from breeding full siblings. In order for a chance at an Albino Percheron one of these full siblings MUST BE a Percheron. The Albino Percheron coat does NOT pass, however, breeding an Albino Percheron with it’s sibling does slightly increase your chance for another Albino or Albino Percheron.
