Auction Etiquette

Hey guys its always good to have great auction etiquette, its good for sellers, buyers, and the auction house!

Have you ever been to an auction where sellers left immediately after the auctioneer finished their panel? If they were before you, how did that make you feel that they did not stay to hear your panel called? Or, maybe you are one of those that hop from auction to auction, have you ever thought about how that can effect your sales?

It’s definitely something to be mindful about. So, I have compiled a few of the do’s and don’ts of attending an auction.

  • Setup & arrive on time
  • Commit to stay at the auction till the end
  • Notify the auction house if you are not going to be able to make it – someone else may need that spot
  • Be a buyer not just a seller
  • Keep a positive attitude and encourage others to do the same
  • Be interactive during the auction
  • Auction hop between auctions at the same time
  • Pick up and leave after your panel is called
  • Say you will haven/paradise/sanctuary/oasis your breedable if it doesn’t sell (pity selling)
  • Be a negative ‘Ned’ or ‘Nancy’
  • Think that just because you don’t like something, someone else won’t
  • Be afraid to have fun!

Breeders are more apt to buy from their fellow breeders who show auction etiquette and respect. It’s a win-win for everyone!
