Trait Talk

Hello Horse Lovers!
Today I am going to take a moment to talk about traits and try to clear up some of the confusion about them.  I am going to cover each aspect of the horse to cover each trait.

~~Coat~~
Any coat that is not a starter coat is considered a trait. All non starter coats are considered ONE trait. The following coats are starter coats so anything other than these are 1 trait….
Appaloosa Black
Appaloosa Brown
Appalossa Tan
Appaloosa Grey
Brown Bay
Copper Bay
Golden Bay
Red Bay
Black Painted
Brown Painted
Red Painted
Silver Painted
Creme Palomino
Golden Palomino
Silver Palomino
Tan Palomino
Black Buckskin
Brown Buckskin
Creme Buckskin
Red Buckskin

~~Eyes~~
Any eye that is not a starter eye is considered a trait.  All non starter eyes are considered ONE trait. The heartshine and starshine eyes are NOT considered 2 traits. The following eyes are starter eyes so anything other than these are 1 trait…
Amber
Baby blue
Black
Dark brown
Light brown
Light green
Midnight blue
Silver
Violet
White
Yellow

~~Tails~~
Any tail other than a normal tail is considered ONE trait.

~~Mane~~
Any mane other than a normal mane is considered ONE trait.

~~Luster~~
Luster is ONE trait for each part of the horse is affects. Luster can be on the coat and hair (mane and tail). So a total possible two traits can be reached with luster if it is on both coat and hair.

~~Gleam~~
Gleam is ONE trait for each part of the horse is affects. Gleam can be on the coat and hair (mane and tail). So a total possible two traits can be reached with gleam if it is on both coat and hair.

~~Gloom~~
Gloom is ONE trait for each part of the horse is affects. Gloom can be on the coat and hair (mane and tail). So a total possible two traits can be reached with gloom if it is on both coat and hair.

So in total a horse can have 10 traits.
Non starter coat= 1 trait possible
Non starter eye= 1 trait possible
Non starter tail= 1 traits possible
Non starter mane= 1 trait possible
Luster= 2 traits possible
Gleam= 2 traits possible
Gloom= 2 traits possible

Let’s use this following horse for example. This Horse is a 7 trait horse.

Coat: Black/White Mustang   <~~ 1 trait
Eye: Sapphire StarShine    <~~ 1 trait
Mane: Long    <~~ 1 trait
Tail: Normal
Coat Gleam Low    <~~ 1 trait
Coat Luster Low    <~~ 1 trait
Hair Gleam Low    <~~ 1 trait
Hair Luster Low    <~~ 1 trait

I hope this post helps everyone better understand the traits a can horse have. Good luck and happy high trait breeding to all!
Until my next post……

Pairing Your Horses

Happy Friday everyone!  We made it through another week, and another update.  YaY!! We have still had a few people saying they are having issues with the pairing so I am going to write my blog today on properly pairing your horses for the best breeding results. (Why do I feel like I’m about to explain the birds and the bees lol?!?!)

Take the 2 horses you want to pair and rez them side by side, make sure they are properly introduced to each other …Example:  Male HorseA we’d like you to meet your new partner Female HorseBCheck all their settings, reset their homes, make sure their breedable settings (Group, All, Owner) are set correctly for this particular breeding session. Always make sure the horses are the same version and that 1 is male and 1 is female *giggles* You don’t need to sorry about any other stats as the horses will pair even if they are not full fervor or quite happy enough yet.

Check their ranges make sure they are set correctly for the space they are from each other.

Now you can go to the menu and click breeding, then choose Pairing. I am going to pair Tex with Tina. So I touch Tex and on the drop down menu I choose Breeding, then Pairing and then select Form Pairing. Type the name of the horse you want to pair it with in local chat (make sure spelling is correct). You will then need to Confirm the pairing on the drop down menu. In local chat you will see the horse say Forming pairing with Tina. Now you can touch Tina and go to Breeding, Pairing and you will see at the top of the drop down it says This horse is paired with Tex.

There may be times when just like humans the horses can be a little stubborn.  If pairing does not appear to be working for you and you have done all the steps I have outlined above, simply break the pairing then re-rez the horses and start over, normally the horses will cooperate and everything should work just fine for you after this.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to send in pictures like Richie asked for in his blog on Tuesday.

<Oh… for some added fun if you all want to send me (Richie Carami) a pic of your favorite horse in sl to Richie Carami, make it a very nice pic, I will choose 3 of my faves!! If I get enough, I will post them on next weeks blog for everyone to see.. Please if you decide to send in a pic, name the pic your SecondLife  name so I know who to give the credit to if your pic is chosen.>

Update v 2.21

With the update everyone has been waiting on coming out today I decided to use my blog post to cover all the stuff in the update. Happy updating everyone! See you next week!

Update v2.21 fixes/changes:

1. Riding animation fixed (fixed from v2.2)

2. Side saddle script error fixed. (fixed from v2.2)

3. The pairing is now fixed.

4. Bundle hover text is now in proper position, and the bundle is rezzed right under the mare.

5. Charmed horses now have all prims when birthed.

6. The textures have been modified due to rendering issues (seeing green).

New added features:

1. We have allowed partial logging of hunger on horses SL side to try to further investigate hunger issues. Similar logging will be done for salt lick usage.

Somethings you need to know about the updater:

1. It will not work if there is more than one updater out. It gives you a message that there are 2 updaters out please remove one. If you continue to try and update your horse It will give you another error message and have you pick one updater up and reset the other. (touch and wait 5 seconds to reset)

2. It will not update pregnant horses. The reason being the updater can potentially abort the pregnancy. Waiting to update your pregnant horses will not effect the horses functions, they will continue to eat, move, animate etc. When they give birth to the bundle, then you can update them. The bundle will be the old version and need to be updated when birthed.

3. The updater will not work on sims with a high load. Dilation needs to be above .65 and region fps must be above 25 for the updater to work. You will get an error message that says the sim dilation is too low, we have enclosed a sim monitor that will display these values for you. Just rez on your sim next to the updater.

Update Instructions:

Single Updater: Place the updater near the horse that isn’t updated and click the horse and click the update button. The horse will be updated and the settings will be the same as before the update process. ***DO NOT PICK UP HORSES OR THE UPDATER UNTIL IT HAS COMPLETED THE UPDATE PROCESS***

Bulk Updater: Place the bulk updater in the middle of your horse breeding area, click the updater and adjust the settings you want your horses to be set to after the update process, then click the update horses button on the updater menu. This updater has the ability to update all horses that are not v2.0 in an entire region. However, depending on sim performance it may only do the horses in a 96 meter radius. Do not remove the updater until it has completed updating all horses and the hover text above the updater reads FINISHED. ***DO NOT PICK UP HORSES OR THE UPDATER UNTIL IT HAS COMPLETED THE UPDATE PROCESS***

Missing and Lost

Our data base contains UUID, descriptions and even what you name your horse or bundle. When a ticket comes in for missing horses or bundles, we do our best to find them for you. If you don’t have the UUID and you at least have the name of the horse or bundle it will make it easier to find. Leaving you horse named Amaretto Breedable Horse or your bundle named Amaretto Breedable Bundle can present a problem on finding your lost items.

Also your transaction history, when you purchased an item can also be a valuable help when you have tickets on  items that did not come into your inventory when you purchased from others, or at auctions.

We are here to help you everyday, so please help us help you , in finding your lost horses and bundles.

Hello Everyone,

Today I would like to take the time to bring all the new people up to date on how the Amaretto Horses work. First of all I would love to say welcome to all the new people that have been joining the group and the ones that are new to the horses in general. The horses came out in Sept of last year and since then has become a big thing with the breedable community. I will be taking the time to talk about bundles, food, salt licks, and how the breeding works.

Bundles:
When your horse has a bundle or you just buy a bundle from the store some do not realize but you have to click the bundle and hit birth everyone thinks well most items we buy in sl we have to open if your new to breeding this is a very common mistake that can happen just remember if you do make this mistake and your a new breeder file a ticket and we will help you out. Always remember… click the bundle and hit birth and then yes to confirm the birth.

Food:
There are 2 different types of food depending on what your outlook for the horses is. You can have them as just a pet if you wish, if this is the case, you can use pet food for this. Pet food will keep the horse fed but at the same time it does take the breeding aspect away.  Don’t worry…  if you decide later on you want to breed the horse, you can just change the food type to breeder food and place out the breedable food. It will take 7 days once a horse is switched from pet food to breeder food to start gaining fervor if all other conditions are right 🙂  With breedable Food, this type of food is perfect for all those who want to breed horses. Breedable food will allow your horse to gain the fervor it needs to have bundles so you can get offspring from your horse 🙂

Salt Licks:
Salt Licks are used to help with Happiness they will help your horse gain the correct happiness it needs to start gaining fervor remember if your horse is on pet food you do not really need the salt licks unless you just want it to be happy. Salt licks do not make the horse gain fervor like some do believe, they just help them gain the happiness.

How Breeding Works:
All horses have a submissive  gene and a dominant gene, if you take two white walkers and put them together you may not get a white walker in return because they have a hidden gene that is called the sub this has a chance to pass to the offspring just as well as the dom does. Just because you might say my horse is pure well there is always that chance it does have a sub gene of a different coat that will pass.

I do also want to touch base on one more thing before I let you all go… I have had some people telling me “I am birthing all girls. Why am I not birthing any boys?” Since the beginning the males have always been more rare then the females hence they are harder to get. You can say “Well I have birthed 5 girls in a row. One should have been a male!”  This is not the case. You should remember it’s not just you birthing the bundles it’s every single breeder out there that is also birthing bundles so there is a very good chance you will birth more females then males.

Please note below is a list of starter coats and eyes. Starters are considered any horse that is birthed directly from a starter bundle which come from any of the starter packs sold at the Amaretto stores.
Please note, Appaloosas are now a retired coat. Which means they will no longer be available through the starter packs but can be bred through existing appaloosas or horses with this gene.

Thank You for taking time to read my blog…. until next time…

Oh… for some added fun if you all want to send me a pic of your favorite horse in sl to Richie Carami, make it a very nice pic, I will choose 3 of my faves!! Wow its another manic Monday……..here we are embarking on a new week what bundles are in store for you? Or even me LOL. So one week of the customer connection and what do you guys think? Is it a keeper? Well last week I asked for ncs on what you guys wanted to see posts on and I only got one. I cant remember who sent it but they wanted me to talk about charmed horses.
There are currently 6 different types of charmed horses:

  • Pegacorn
  • Pegasus
  • Unicorn
  • Robo Unicorn
  • Demon Horse
  • Nightmare Clydesdale

How charming are they exactly? Well the first myth is that charmed horses can pass their coats this is not true, they will not pass their coats, their eyes, or any other specific traits for any one particular charmed.

Charmed horses do have a slight increased chance of giving birth to another charmed however, this increase is not in the normal coat charmed offspring babies,  but only the actual charmed babies from a charmed horse have a greater chance to get another charmed.
If you have a charmed horse that is missing a horn or a wing you need to file a ticket for this horse it is not any more special than other charmed that has these things, but it was a glitch in the older bundles but will be fixed in the next update.

So what new charms are in store for Amaretto? Well i cant exactly tell you that 😛 But if there is another topic you would like to see on the customer connection please send a nc in world to Avalon Crystal, and one of the csrs will post about it!

I hope that everyone has a great week!  I wish you all long, longs with many traits!! Happy Breeding everyone!!

If a charmed horse is bred with another horse of any type, or with another charmed, will yield a greater chance of having a charmed, however, when their descedents breed (if they aren’t charmed) will not garner the increased chance.

  • Charmed + Charmed= higher chance
  • Charmed + Non Charmed = higher chance
  • Offspring of Charmed (non charmed) + Offspring of Charmed (non charmed) = no higher chance than a normal non charmed horse

Just confirmed straight from our scripter [20:31]  Lexxure Lock: A non-charmed horse breeding with another non-charmed horse WILL NOT have a greater chance to have a new charmed, REGARDLESS OF ITS PARENTS. If a charmed horse is bred with another horse of any type, or with another charmed, will yield a greater chance of having a charmed, however, when their descedents breed (if they aren’t charmed) will not garner the increased chance.

Lexxure has been kind enough to come into the group for the past 2 nights and address people concerns with food, salt and happiness. We are aware many have concerns and I just want you all to know we hear you.   I will be posting more on his adventures into the community on my regular posting day on Friday.

Hi Everyone
I really had an enjoyable time in the group this morning. There was no argueing and everyone was having a pleasant conversation. I sure Thank you all for that. These are some of the things we talked about today:

What the gender of a horse is before it was birthed. The gender of the horses are random so its not possible to tell what gender it is until after it is birthed.
The Charmed horses come to you randomly and any pair of horses can give you a Charmed Horse.
You can update any horses after March 5th the only thing is you will not get any support on  1.3 horses after that date. We will still replace missing/lost 1.3 horses but they will be returned as the current version not 1.3’s. It’s always good to remember anytime support repairs your horses they will be sent back to you as the current version.
Thank You for reading  an have a great day .

Hello Everyone,
I have been watching the group today and i see a few of you do have a few questions one of them is

When will the pairing be fixed? Answer: Although I cannot give you a date to this I will say it will be very soon we are working hard to correct the issues with the pairing and want to make sure to test it before putting the fix out

Why do my salt licks say 0% ? and does that mean they are empty? Answer: The hover text does not effect how they salt licks work if you check in the description field of the salt lick a full one will state 42 so are they empty at 0%? No when they are empty they will disappear..

Now on to the biggest question and concern I see of the day…
Why is food going so fast? Answer: Its not going faster than it ever has. A hungry horse will eat about 2 to 3 times more then a horse that is not hungry. Let me give you an example of something
If you have 300 horses they will eat 300 foods a month it is 1 food per horse per month 300 divided by 4 weeks being 28 days is 11 foods a day is what 300 NON hungry horses will eat.. Food is not going any faster then it should be if you are having issues they could be due to sl itself or the horses could be hungry as stated….

On to the next Big Question
Why can you not release new stuff into the old horses without buying new? Answer: We have to remember all horses have a dom and sub trait if you have a horse that you have been working hard on for a long time would you want its traits to change? No you wouldn’t  If we could make it to where you could get new traits from the old horses your traits would change all together

With all this being said I do wanna say that I am very sad how some do act in the group, we do our best to provide you all with great customer service and we will still strive to do our best we are not perfect just like everyone else we put our pants on one leg at a time. I wish and hope that the group could be more civil at times instead of arguing like I do see alot of… If an Amaretto staff member gives info in the group why argue with us and tell us we are wrong? why ask the question if you are just going to say we are wrong….  sometimes it seems that some want to come in the group and try to take control over the group which is wrong it is sad but true…..

I do hope that I did not offend anyone but the truth being said I will see you all next Tuesday…
